Banff National Park Photos To Inspire Your Trip

Last Updated on October 2, 2025

If you’ve ever dreamed of visiting the Canadian Rockies, these Banff National Park photos will give you all the inspiration you need. During our trip, we were blown away by the beauty that surrounded us in this little corner of Canada.

In this post, I’m sharing some of our favorite photos from Banff National Park (all taken with just an iPhone). From turquoise lakes to dramatic mountain peaks, take a look at why Banff is one of the most breathtaking places in the world…

Sunrise at Two Jack Lake

Photo of sunrise at Banff National Park's Two Jack Lake

The calm water of Two Jack Lake perfectly reflects the pink and orange hues of the morning sky as the sun rises behind the Canadian Rockies. It’s a quiet, peaceful spot to watch Banff wake up.

View From Top of Mt. Norquay

Birds eye view of Banff from the top of Mt. Norquay

After climbing the via ferrata at Mt. Norquay, we were rewarded with this sweeping view over Banff. The turquoise Bow River winds through the valley, framed by the rugged peaks of the Canadian Rockies. Seeing the town nestled among such dramatic scenery really shows just how special this mountain setting is.

Lake Louise at Sunrise

turquoise lake with rising sun reflecting orange in sky and on water between mountains

Few places are as iconic as Lake Louise. In the early morning light, the calm, glacier-fed waters mirror the surrounding mountains as the peaks in the distance glow with the rising sun.

At the Edge of Lake Louise

Lake Louise from wooden walkway

Standing at the edge of Lake Louise, smooth stones line the shore surrounding the glass-clear water. This is the classic view most visitors first see when they arrive at Lake Louise.

Lake Agnes Along the Beehive Trail

Mirror Lake in Banff National Park

Hiking the Beehive Trail above Lake Louise brought us to Lake Agnes, a serene alpine lake tucked into the mountains. The hike was challenging but so worth it for this view.

Lake Louise From Big Beehive

THIS is why you hike ALL the way up Big Beehive Trail! It’s hard to tell from this photo just how high up we are, but look closely at the far left edge of the lake – that’s the famous Fairmont Chateau.

Hiking Among the Golden Larches

walking through yellow larches

Wandering in Larch Valley with the peak autumn color standing out against the gray cliffs and early-season snow felt like being in the heart of a postcard.

Downtown Banff

street in downtown Banff

Downtown Banff is a lively mix of shops, restaurants, and cafes with mountain views in every direction. Walking along Banff Avenue, it’s impossible not to stop and take in the dramatic backdrop of Cascade Mountain rising at the end of the street.

View From Sulphur Mountain

Photo from Sulphur Mountain in Banff National Park of orange sky, mountains, and forest

After riding the Banff Gondola to the top of Sulphur Mountain, we saw this breathtaking panorama. The setting sun lit up the valley and painted the clouds in a fiery orange, creating a view that captures Banff’s dramatic beauty from above.

Evergreens Admiring Moraine Lake

Photo of Moraine Lake in Banff National Park with pine trees lining the deep blue water

Even on a moody morning with massive clouds hovering over it, Moraine Lake looks as stunning as ever. Evergreens line the waters edge admiring the view.

Moraine Lake as Clouds Dissipate

Moraine Lake at sunrise

As the clouds lifted, the turquoise waters of Moraine Lake reflected the Valley of the Ten Peaks above. This is the reason you come to Banff National Park. Moraine Lake sunrise at its finest.

Canoeing on Moraine Lake

There’s no better way to experience Moraine Lake than from the water itself. Paddling across the vibrant turquoise surface, surrounded by towering peaks, was one of the most peaceful parts of the trip – and it’s free for those staying at the beautiful Moraine Lake Lodge.

Peyto Lake From Above

Turquoise Peyto Lake along Canada's Icefields Parkway

From the lookout high above, Peyto Lake revealed its iconic wolf-like shape and unbelievably bright turquoise color. The sweeping view of the lake against the backdrop of jagged mountains is another example of the otherworldly lake views Banff gifts us.

Driving the Icefields Parkway

golden tree lining the blue water and mountains in the distance

The Icefields Parkway is often called one of the most beautiful drives in the world – this picture explains why. The scenery makes you want to stop the car every few minutes just to take it all in.

Waterfowl Lake – Another Banff Gem

turquoise water reflecting a mountain with gold bush in the foreground

Waterfowl Lake is one of those quiet gems that often gets overlooked, but its still waters and rugged mountain backdrop make it a perfect place to pause and soak in Banff’s beauty.

An Awe-inspiring Dream Destination

Banff National Park is full of places that look like they belong on postcards. From hiking alpine trails to paddling turquoise lakes and exploring the charming town, Banff truly leaves you in awe.

These Banff National Park photos capture only a glimpse of its beauty, but they’re a reminder of why this stunning place is worth experiencing at least once in your lifetime.

That’s what I love about Italy… any average, afternoon stroll can turn into a history lesson. This famous explorer and for whom America is named after was born in Florence in 1454 and his family had a house tucked along a quiet lane in the tiny town of Montefioralle.

Our cooking class in Tuscany was one of the highli Our cooking class in Tuscany was one of the highlights of our trip - and not just because there was Chianti involved. 😉🍷

If you’ve ever thought about taking a class in Italy, here are some tips:

✅ Be sure to choose a hands-on class over a demo style so you actually make the pasta yourself.
✅ No experience is needed - they show you how to do everything.
✅ Come hungry. Ours was five courses!
✅ Bring your camera. Many classes are set among the beautiful Tuscan countryside.

Our class at Podere Campriano was such a fun, relaxed way to connect with the culture - and we came home with new skills (and recipes!)

Have you ever taken an Italian cooking class?🍝
